Fromagora — concours national de fromages de chèvre fermiers
National competition for farmhouse goat's cheeses
Every two years, the only national competition reserved for farmhouse goat's cheese sets up its judging panels in a goat-farming region.
Every two years, Fromagora brings together farmhouse goat's cheese producers from across France. Organised by the Fédération Nationale des Éleveurs de Chèvres, it changes region with each edition: Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine in 2024, the Ardèche, at the heart of the PDO (AOP) Picodon, in 2026.
In 2026, 131 tasters judged 340 samples from 112 farmhouse producers, divided into 32 categories: fresh cheeses, matured lactic cheeses, bloomy-rind cheeses, pressed cheeses, PDOs. The competition honoured 102 cheeses — 50 gold medals, 43 silver and 9 bronze — and a Fromag'Or prize, the secondary school students' favourite, was awarded to a cheese from the Mothais sur feuille appellation.
Only farmhouse producers may compete: a cheese awarded here is made on the farm, with milk from their own goats.
