Mondial du Fromage

World cheese and dairy competition, Tours

Every two years, Tours becomes the cheese capital — and nearly two thousand products pass before two hundred and twenty-four judges.

The Concours International Produits is one of the two competitions at the Mondial du Fromage et des Produits Laitiers, an international trade fair for the sector established in 2013 and held every two years at the Parc des Expositions de Tours. The other event, the Concours du Meilleur Fromager, assesses professionals rather than products: each year, it crowns the world's best cheesemonger.

Organised with the Guilde Internationale des Fromagers, the competition is open to the entire sector — producers, producer groups, dairies, processors, affineurs, industrial manufacturers, and importers — and welcomes all cheeses and dairy products from around the world, regardless of the milk used: cow, goat, ewe, buffalo, or other.

It is held over three days in September and brings together more than two hundred exhibitors from around sixty countries. Nearly two thousand products compete, judged by over two hundred international experts and professionals. The awards are gold, silver, and bronze medals; in addition, a supreme jury names the competition's best cheese.
